THRIVE is a young adult worship band from Evangel Baptist Church led by the Massengill brothers (Gideon & Noah).   They have been leading worship and putting on concerts at Michawana since 2014 when lead singer Gideon swept Red Thunder off her feet!  After Jessica & Gideon’s December 2017 wedding Gideon looks forward to coming back to visit Michawana and praising Jesus!

Speaker: Steve Roobol

Steve was born and raised in Kentwood.   He and his wife Nicole have a daughter, Taylor, and son, Jordan.  Steve moved to Springfield, MO. for formal education at Central Bible College. From there, they moved to central Iowa and served there for three years as pastor, youth pastor and a radio DJ for KSKP. God then called them back to West Michigan where they served at Kentwood Community Church with the young adults and as a lead Pastor in Middleville.  He is currently the Director at The DOCK ministries, an after school program for kids and teens in the Kellogsville area.  We loved having Steve lead the Crusader Bible Hours this summer and look forward to having him bring the Word at Big Chill 1!

Big Chill 2:  February 16-18, 2018

Eric Verstraete (better known as Professor X around here) is a man with a gift for communicating.  He has been teaching here at Michawana the past two summers in Bible Hour, Overtime Chapel, and Family Camps.  Eric works with the Pregnancy Resource Center in Grand Rapids traveling to schools teaching value and positive choices to students year round.  He is a youth leader at his church in Dorr, MI as well as a speaker for other christian camps.  When he isn’t speaking, Professor X is with his wife, Rachel, and 6 boys teaching them to be men of God.  He brings lessons alive with stories, illustrations, and his excitement!  You don’t want to miss Professor X.

2018 Big Chill Registration Form

Tubing, ice skating, the REALLY BIG CHILL polar bear jump, and hot cocoa are really just the tip of this chilly ice-berg.

What sets Big Chill apart is the chance to grow as a small group or get to know your team through Bible Study, Team Challenges, and lots of bonding!

All the crazy excitement you’ve come to expect at Michawana, with a laid back winter flare that makes you wish winter lasted all year….okay…let’s not get crazy now.

Start Time:

The fun kicks off Friday night at 7pm.   (Pizza snack is provided later that night, but dinner is on your own before you come)

End Time:
The official fun will be done after lunch at 12:30.   Lunch will be a to-go style so if you want to hit the road you can, but feel free to stick around and play in the snow into the afternoon!

All accommodations are heated, some include bathrooms in the building and others have a short walk. Preferred lodging is based on first come, first served registration.

What to Bring:
Lots of warm clothes, bedding, toiletries, ice skates if you like, Bible, pen & notebook, and another pair of dry socks. (you may want to bring your swimsuit if you plan on doing the REALLY BIG CHILL).

Youth groups are welcomed and can be given lodging together, but coming in a group is not necessary. We match up individual campers with Michawana Staff. All guys and girls lodging are separated.

Call (269)-623-5168 to talk about group reservations in advance- your lodging preference goes by registrations that are sent in first.
